    Dear Dr. Renato Solidum,

    Greetings!

I decided to send this email in connection with the Earthquake Intensity Meter that you are providing with each LGU’s.

I can recall that around 2013, there are Phivolcs personnel that brought us the intensity meter here in Valenzuela City to be installed at our identified location based on your requirement.

But upon installation during that time they had encountered difficulty that needed additional attachments for it to be installed.

They promised to come back, but until now they have not yet returned.

I tried to course the concern about a year ago through social media with Dr. Jane Punongbayan but to no avail.

Just recently, we have transfered to a new biluilding, that is why I want to follow up the Installation of the Intensity Meter to our new facility.

I am hoping for your prompt response on this matter sir. You know that it will be a very big help for every LGU and to your agency if we will be able to have one.

I would be glad to hear from you about this sir.

    Thank you and God bless!

    Dir. Renato U. Solidum, Jr.
    Director, PHIVOLCS
C.P. Garcia Ave. UP Diliman ,Quezon City

    Dear Director Solidum,
Warm greetings from the people of Antique.
The undersigned was a participant in a seminar-workshop on multi-hazard mapping held on July 22, this year, in San Jose, Antique conducted by the Mining and Geosciences Bureau, the DOST and your agency. In this seminar, PHIVOLCS tipped off that construction of commercial buildings and complexes have a need of securing a permit from your office. Likewise, the resource person from PHIVOLCS laid emphasis on the prohibition of construction and development in the areas sitting on top of fault lines. One of the expectations after the seminar-workshop was for participants to conduct echo seminar-workshops in their respective communities.

In this regard, in the course of imparting to different communities, some concerns were raised. May we ask then a copy of a memorandum circular or regulation compelling applicants for building-constructions or development permits to secure approval from the PHIVOLCS office in the locality. May we also know the ruling in case of a construction of aviation gas storage and oil depot which sits on top close to a fault line and susceptible to liquefaction.

Your immediate response will be greatly appreciated.

    Sincerely,

    Virgilio “Bong” Q. Sanchez
